Carlos Delgado touched them all and had 4 RBI as the Vero Beach SeaWolves
defeated the Falls Lake Fire Ants 8 to 4 at Shea Stadium.
The game started off with Vero Beach taking the lead in the first as they
scored 4 runs on 2 base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by
Delgado who brought a roar from the partisan Shea Stadium fans when he lofted
a three-run 'big-fly' (his 1st of the season). Falls Lake had 10 hits in the
game while Vero Beach had 6, but Vero Beach had the more timely hits.
The victory was credited to Greg Maddux(1-0) who went 7 innings, allowing 3
runs. Joe Nathan recorded the save, his 3rd. Roy Oswalt(1-1) was hit with
the loss. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 8 runs in 5 innings.
