Designated hitter Emil Brown had 3 base hits as the Falls Lake Fire Ants
defeated the Vero Beach SeaWolves by the score of 4 to 1 at Shea
Stadium.
Falls Lake tallied 3 runs in the top of the 4th inning when they had 4 base
hits. After an out was recorded, Alex Rodriguez began the Falls Lake spurt
when he laced a one-base hit. After another out, Brown came up and he
smacked a single. Craig Monroe then doubled plating two runs. Wes Helms
followed and he laced a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. Falls
Lake had 11 hits for the night while Vero Beach had 3.
Chris Carpenter(2-0) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 5 innings.
Carpenter got relief help from Jose Valverde who gained credit for his 3rd
save. Brad Penny(0-1) was tagged with the loss. He allowed 10 hits and no
walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.
